Fretful Parents Follow their Kids to College
For many parents the day their kids leave for college is the day they can start living the rest of their lives again. For over twenty years they have raised your at an average cost of $200,000 and they deserve some rest. So out you go and your room gets converted into a study and that’s that.
Not so for parents in China who’s one-child policy leads to some overprotective and unusual behavior. Some parents have such trouble letting go universities have actually created a space for them to stay so they can be near their offspring.
Take the university in Wuhan, for instance. They have been so inconvenienced by parents coming and going all year, they have set up a dorminatory especially for parents in a disused sports hall.
A spokesman for the University said ‘They often can’t accept that their children have now left home and come to university. Sometimes they move to the local area for months offering to cook and clean for their children – and keep an eye on them’.
